This Cookie Policy describes the cookies and similar technologies MarineFlux uses on its website and application, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device to make the site work, remember your preferences, or understand how it is used. We also use similar technologies such as your browser's local storage (used, for example, to remember your cookie choices) and, for analytics, lightweight cookieless measurement. In this policy we refer to all of these together as "cookies".
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary
These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. They include your authentication and session state (so you stay signed in), security and anti-forgery protection, your language preference, and a record of the cookie choices you make. Because they are essential, they do not require consent.
Functional
These remember choices you make to improve your experience, such as interface preferences. If you block them, some features may not work as intended.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used and how it performs, so we can improve it. This measurement is cookieless and anonymous — it does not identify you — and it loads only after you give consent to analytics.
Marketing
We do not use marketing or advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites for advertising. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
3. Third-Party Cookies
The Service is delivered through Vercel (hosting and analytics) and Google Firebase (authentication and storage). These providers may set strictly-necessary cookies or store equivalent data needed to deliver and secure the Service. Their handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy and governed by their own policies. We do not permit these providers to use the data for their own advertising.
4. Cookie Durations
| Name / technology | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
NEXT_LOCALE |
Remembers your language preference | Strictly necessary | Up to 1 year |
| Firebase authentication / session | Keeps you securely signed in | Strictly necessary | Session / as managed by Firebase |
| Security & anti-forgery token | Protects requests against forgery | Strictly necessary | Session |
| Cookie-consent record (local storage) | Stores the cookie choices you make | Strictly necessary | Until you clear it |
| Vercel Analytics / Speed Insights | Anonymous, cookieless usage and performance measurement | Analytics | No cookie stored on your device |
5. Your Controls
When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies and customise your choices; you can change them at any time through the banner. By default we apply a GDPR-strict standard to all visitors, regardless of location — non-essential cookies are off until you opt in. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Because strictly-necessary cookies are essential, blocking them may prevent parts of the Service (such as signing in) from working.
6. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the "effective" date. Where a change is material, we will provide notice. If you have any question, contact us at info@marineflux.com.
